Expert Reviews of LG VX8500 Chocolate (Verizon Wireless)
Expert Rating: 3.8
by Joni Blecher -- August 14th 2006
Yes, the LG VX8500 "Chocolate" is being dubbed a music phone and its cool exterior slightly resembles the U2-inspired iPod, but this cell phone isnt just about the music. Its got decent battery life, impressive audio quality, expandable memory, a 1.3-megapixel camera and Bluetooth. Despite all the music features, the LG Chocolate is a cell phone first with some nifty extra features. If you want a cell phone that turns heads and can keep you entertained while on the road, check out the Chocolate. But if you want an MP3 player that can make a few calls keep waiting. What you want hasnt been made yet.

The phone itself is nice except the number keys are too small for moderately big fingers. I often hit two keys at a time. The touch sensor keys are often activated when I holding the phone to my ear. It was disappointed that the cable headphones and software don't come with the phone to access the mp3 player. When you buy an mp3 player it comes with that, so why should this be different? The battery life is too short and doesn't give you enough warning before it dies. That is very annoying. Seriously, I get three beeps, about 2 minutes and it's dead. Other than that I usually get great reception and its a good phone.

I do not like the LG VX8500. I mute people because of the location of the mute button, which is right beside your cheek bone. I cut people off all the time also. I went to plug in my battery charger and the cover broke off and I cant get a new one. This cell phone is very user Unfriendly.

This phone is not worth buying. My phone calls random people at random times when it's only in my pocket and not in my hand. It's touch sensitivity is out of control most of the time even when you adjust the sensitivity control to a minimum low. Writing a text is not easy. I recently read that it's one of the worse phones out there. I had to go back to Verizon in the middle of my term to return this phone and had to renew and get a new term just to get a new phone.

I really am not happy with this phone, sometimes way to sensitive to the touch and other times touch not enough. Goes through too many loops to just sent a text message. Difficult to answer a call on call waiting. When I did try to up grade both Lets Talk and Verizon were not accommodating. I would have probably been happier with a less expensive phone! Very disappointed with both phone and service I received, and here we go with 2 years with a phone I hate, unless I spend more money and toss this phone!

My complaints on the LG chocolate are few. I enjoyed the touch screen. Once you got use to it it was really slick to use. My only problem with the phone is that I went through 3 of em in one year. Yes that is 3 cell phones in one year. My first one lasted about 6 months. My second one lasted 2 weeks, and my third one lasted out the year. The screen died on every one.
